Brown Boveri Cie (today ABB), Switzerland, launches the first rare earth magnet production in Europe:
Rare Earth Cobalt Magnets Recoma®.

| 1976 | Indiana General begins production of rare earth magnets in Valparaiso, Indiana, USA. | |
| 1976 | Brown Boveri Recoma Inc. is founded in Fairfield, New Jersey, USA. | |
| 1980 | The Recoma activities are acquired by Pechiney and become part of the French magnet producer Ugimag. | |
| 1983 | Indiana General, now IG Technologies, establishes a subsidiary in the UK. | |
| 1989 | IG Technologies is integrated in the Ugimag group. | |
| 2000 | The rare earth magnet business of Ugimag is acquired by Magnequench. | |
| 2004 | Magnequench decides to focus on powder for bonded magnets and divest all of its magnet business. Our group becomes an independent organization owned by Archibald Cox jr. | |
| 2005 |
The Magnequench permanent magnet group changes its name to Precision Magnetics. |
