Precision Magnetics is a rare earth permanent magnet producer with production facilities in Switzerland (Lupfig), USA (Rochester, NY) and the UK (Sheffield).


History
1972   Brown Boveri Cie (today ABB), Switzerland, launches the first rare earth magnet production in Europe:
Rare Earth Cobalt Magnets Recoma®.
1976   Indiana General begins production of rare earth magnets in Valparaiso, Indiana, USA.
1976   Brown Boveri Recoma Inc. is founded in Fairfield, New Jersey, USA.
1980   The Recoma activities are acquired by Pechiney and become part of the French magnet producer Ugimag.
1983   Indiana General, now IG Technologies, establishes a subsidiary in the UK.
1989   IG Technologies is integrated in the Ugimag group.
2000   The rare earth magnet business of Ugimag is acquired by Magnequench.
2004   Magnequench decides to focus on powder for bonded magnets and divest all of its magnet business. Our group becomes an independent organization owned by Archibald Cox jr.
2005   The Magnequench permanent magnet group changes its name to
Precision Magnetics.
2007   Precision Magnetics is acquired by Arnold Magnetic Technologies Corp.
